Lucedale Farmers Market returns this Saturday for Fall Season
Fall back in love with fresh home-grown produce as the Lucedale Farmers Market returns for its “Fall Season” on Saturday, Oct. 19 in front of the George County Courthouse.
“Our Farmers Market is easy to find, we are in Downtown Lucedale on Cox Street. If you see the Courthouse’s red doom you are almost there. The market goes from sunup to sell out but get there early to get the good stuff,” explains Mayor Doug Lee.
The “Fall Season” of the farmers market is only open October 19 through November 16 and will have corn, potatoes, fresh brown eggs, jams, jellies, and nursery bedding plants.
“We wanted to do one more market season before the end of the year to support our local farmers. But remember, it is only for four weeks. I hope everyone will come out again and support our local farmers and nurserymen.  Our motto says it best, ‘Buy Local, Buy George,’” Lee said.
This is the third straight year for the Lucedale Farmers Market. The Spring/Summer 2013 season was the Market’s most successful averaging 20 vendors and more than 200 customers each week. Along with fruits and vegetables, one of the biggest draws is a wide variety of nursery bedding plants.
“The Lucedale Farmers Market was really good for our nursery in 2013. It gave us the opportunity to show our hanging baskets and flowering plants to new customers. And the location and the hours were very convenient for shoppers,” said Jeffery Croom, Croom’s Nursery.

If you have questions or interested in becoming a vendor please call Jackie Jones, Market Manager at 601-947-2082 or 601-947-2744.
